Hello all,
I hope everyone is having a good week.
Back by popular demand is the high school bowling trip!
We will be bowling during regular Sunday school class on Sunday March 16th ( one week from this Sunday).
Mrs. Schultze and I will be providing bagels etc for breakfast on the bus.
We will plan to leave the church at 10:30  am and will be returning approximately 12:15 pm.
We will be bowling at the AMF bowling lanes in Mastic.
All high school students planning on attending should bring $10.00 to cover the cost of bowling and shoes.
I would like to get a head count as seating on the bus is limited.
Looking forward to another great trip! As the last one was a lot of laughs and a great time for all.
Please let me know in church on Sunday or e-mail is great too.

With The Lord we pray

Mr. Schultze

Way to Go!

Hi All….
What a night last night I don’t think I’ve stayed up that late in a VERY long time! A big round of applause to Paul Sulzinski for getting us safely to all our destinations last night he’s the guy to have as a driver around NYC!  Let’s not forget Bob either for volunteering his time to be our “second” chaperone most of the time on our outings. My hats off to the Youth that attended, what a experience to see such compassion from all of you to those in need you were the “church in action” as Rev. Chuck put it.
I think our Youth Group is just that, a “church in action” your ideas and actions towards the mission projects we have done/planning truly show you are God’s disciples.  I love hearing about what we can do, and how we can make it happen… all of you have passions about “helping others in need” a sign of a true follower!
On Sunday we will empty the van of Midnight Run items. It will be a short meeting since we spent the past 11 hours together!
Continue to set good examples and be good followers sharing your Christian Spirit to those around you.
In His Service,
Mrs. Tureski

Socks and more…..

Thank you Jackie, Erin, Leland, Daniel, Grant, Scott, Taylor ,Griffin, Kayla and Kyle… for giving up part of your vacation to sort socks! I know it was never ending but it had to be done. Just think we’re almost to the end of them!

We are the host to Southold Presbyterian Youth Group on Friday @ 6, please arrive by 5:30 so we can set up. It looks like it will be a fun night with fellowship, games and a Mid-night Run update.

December News

Hi All,

As you are aware, we’ve taken the challenge to “Raise an Ark” for Heifer International. This Sunday I will be giving the Children’s message (similar to advent table’s lesson) and asking the congregation for their loose change (maybe some of you can help the kids with this…come up front with me!!!) I will also be doing the Minute for Mission on our behalf.

I will need youth to help with the table in the Parish hall after worship to help with collecting donations or answering questions the next few weeks.

I’m also looking for a head count for Sunday the 22nd. I had scheduled BINGO but most of you said you would not be here that day. I’m looking for an actual head count because it looks like this activity might be better off happening on the first Sunday in January (the 5th), if only 2-3 of you will be there.

So, instead of our BINGO grab bag on the 22nd, Mrs. Claus is looking for Elves (she will supply hats!!!) to help serve at the Christmas Breakfast after worship on the 22nd. Anyone willing to help with this? I need to know ASAP.

I’ll update the Caroling information next week.

Some of you inquired about the direct link to our Heifer link to promote it. Today is actually #givingtuesday and a great  day to kick off a campaign. Helpful stuff to cut and past via your social media pages, create a page or email your friends:

Give Back While Doing Your Gift Giving This Holiday —

“We are approaching the biggest shopping season of the year. Despite being in a recession, holiday spending is on the rise. Over a third of Americans will spend almost $800 this season on gifts, and the average American shopper will spend $107 on themselves! (statistics courtesy of Mashable).

I know our family is going to adopt the new tradition of Giving Tuesday and we are looking for more ways to give back. Why not consider funneling some of your holiday spending into gifts that give back?”

November Happenings

Hi All,

November brings a change in leadership @ Westhampton Presbyterian Church and I’m excited to start this new adventure with the Youth Group and look forward to your input as well as mine to enhancing our program. Most of you said you wanted to see the Youth Group meet after church so we will try and start after Choir rehearsal @ 12:15, this gives you time to grab lunch or bring lunch to our meetings unless noted.

I’ve attached the program for November (still waiting to hear back from Stop & Shop for the Food Drive & Christian Ed as to the Advent Festival 11/24 or 12/1). Please forward this email to Youth who are eligible to participate as my contact list is out of date.

Can you please make sure I have your correct email, address and phone#’s by responding to whpresbyterianyg@gmail.com with updated  information (name, contact info (can you receive a text or not), parents name etc.). Also, if you could RSVP to events so I have an idea as to who is coming it would be greatly appreciated! In addition, if you have any College contact addresses of our young adults so we can write/send care packages that would be great!

Please start a list of things that interest you, what you’d like to see the Youth Group do. Do you have something special at your school you’d like your peers to see, a particular service/community project you’d like us to participate in? Someplace you’d like to go? Do? We will start to go over on the 11/3 meeting.

Our calendar can always add new things or make adjustments to things that are on there. Items to look forward to: Mid-Night Run (February break), Souper Bowl 2014, A Progressive Dinner, Caroling, and banner making to name a few.

Lastly, I’d like to introduce you to a daily devotional you can have delivered to your email @ www.d365.org (it only takes a few minutes to read through it). Once you’ve connected to the site, start at the pause circle at top left and click through the following circles as you read.

In His service,

Kathy Tureski
